Bias in AI:
Systemic intervention design
Spring 2021 / Collaborator / Graduate Project
A team project exploring how bias is embedded and reinforced within the development lifecycle of AI algorithms. Using systems thinking tools, we traced patterns and structures that introduce and sustain bias, and identified leverage points for intervention—ranging from governance to design and deployment.
Key activities
Causal loop diagramming, three horizons scan, leverage point analysis, intervention strategy development.
Focus areas
Systems analysis, bias mitigation, the role policy in ethical tech.
